It is cloudy this morning. Orby got his hair cut.

Orby went to Plainwell and I was canning beets and I took a heart spell. The top blew off the canner as I let it fall on stove and the steam blew the fluid up on ceiling. It was a mess. I was scared and was sick from 1 o'clock till Wednesday morning.

I finished canning the beets. Feel some better, it is chilly today but sun shining nice. Orpha called said Rosemary got her glasses yesterday but having some trouble with them.

I did a wash and had two bad spells with my heart. Dorothea McCalla, their daughter, brought Mr. and Mrs. over and they stayed till after 10 pm. Then Dorothea came after them, we had a lunch around 9 oclock.

Did not get up this morning till after 7 o'clock. I did my ironing.

Daisy and Ike came over and Ike and Dad went to sale. I did another batch of dark clothes.

Stayed home all day did not do much of anything but in afternoon Dennis, Claudia and Dennise was here and is getting so she can nearly walk. She is a good baby.

Orby went to Kalamazoo at 9 come home 1:30 pm. Orpha was here for about 2 hours, said she did not feel too good. We got a yellow clothes basket today.

It is a nice day, we went to Orpha's this afternoon. Had a nice ride, saw Rosemary with her new glasses on. Orpha had her dining room table pained white, it looks nice.

Home all day, thoght it was going to rain, but it just sprinkled a little. I talked with Daisy and she said she was going to see Dr. Mcdill tomorrow at 8 pm to see what he thinks she has.

I did not talk to Orpha as she had 2 teeth pulled out and did not feel too good. Today is Connie's birthday.

Went to Dennis' and she got a lunch for us, it was good, had hamburgers and coffee cake, pears, and had a good time but did not see Dorothea as she was shopping for Junior's children. (Junior is Dorothea's son) They leave Tuesday morning for Florida for the winter. I'll miss them.

We went 77 miles to Earl Fouts' at Decatur, there and back. Earl's looked pretty good, stopped at Oshtemo to Orpha's and stayed about 1/2 hour, had a nice ride. Earl's gave us a pumpkin to make some pies.

Well today is a nice day. We went to Daisy and she feels better. She went to Dr. Mcdill. Rosie was there, she is having trouble with her legs and hands.

I called Mrs. Dennis and they were getting ready to go on their trip, so I gave them good bye. I hate to see them going but I know it is best for them as Dorothea will take good care of them. Orpha, Claudia and baby Dennise came for a short visit.

Home all day, heard Kennedy speak at 11:15 o'clock on channel 3. I vacuumed my front room also the two bedrooms.

Commenced taking Maalox for my stomach and mouth. Dad saw Effie at the store in Kalamazoo. Got some polydent and a tooth cup and Dad got one too. His is yellow, mine is pink. A man called about house trailer, we may go tomorrow to see it at Vicksburg, he wants $1,750.00 for it.

Went to look at house trailer at Vicksburg also stopped at Austin's to see their trailer. the man wanted $1,795.00 for it, it was 18 foot and a very nice trailer, the man's name was Cotts.

Dennise started to walk, said she was a proud little girl. We went to daisy's today, got papers and found out how everyone was. Daisy feels a lot better in her back but her sprained foot is not too good.

Dad went to Kalamazoo this morning and bought plastic seat covers, had them put on car, cost $14.95. Walley paid his payment today and it is a nice day. I guess we are having Indian Summer. Got a letter from Merle today, Joyce don't feel too good.

I stayed home. Dad went to Kalamazoo but did ot buy anything just bummed around. I got my hand ointment today, cost $2.07.

Looks a little like rain. Dad is going to a sale near old 131 near Three Rivers. Went at 11 am got home at 7:15 pm. Did not buy anything.

Nice day, but it rained a little last night. We drove over to see Bob and family, we had a very nice visit. I took coffee with them. Dad had coffee and pie. I thought I better not eat as my stomach is not too good. We took muskmelon and tomatoes over. Stopped in at Claudia's and saw Dennise walking.

Today is my Dear little Orpha's Birthday. (53 years old) She's a darling and my baby girl. She was here, brought me a lovely bunch of glads and also Claudia and baby came. Ike and Daisy was here. Ike tried to fix my stove but could not. Dad bought me Phillips Milk of Magnesia, mint flavor for acid stomach. I think it helped me.

We went to Kalamazoo, to Vicksburg, to look at TV. We was to George's then we come home and got a bite to eat and while we were eating Mrs. Dalson Harper came. We sure had a nice visit. I had not seen her for over 25 years, the same old gal, but lots older. We talked of old times. I went over to Orpha's and spent the evening. Claudia, Dennis and baby came. Claudia and Dennis went to show, Orpha babysat.

Went car hunting, went to Kalamazoo then Paw Paw then to Gobles then Allegan but did not get any car. I saw Daisy's new set of dishes she got and her hair dryer. Ike bought her, they are pretty. Bought 1963 Galaxie Ford, paid $2,500.oo difference, it is ming green, bought it at Plainwell Michigan.

Dad went down to Plainwell to get the new Ford we bought but before he went we cleaned out garage and did a lot of washing the wood work and swept the garage floor. I am surely tired. we went to daisy's to show off the car then we went to Bob's, got a clock $2.27 tax and all at Muirs. We also went to daisy's to show them our new car, she don't feel too good.

I started to iron and my navel came out and I could not get it back. Called Dr. Mcdill and Orby took me to hospital and then Mcdill came and put it in. Wanted me to stay at Hospital 2 days but I said no, so they put a band on me and I came home, got dinner and finished my ironing. (Wow)

My darling daughter's birthday, she is my first baby and a dear one. (Daisy, she is 64) Looks like rain, I trimmed my corn. Orby defrosted the refrigerator. I feel worn out. I vacuumed the front room 4 times then Dad went over it with my new rug cleaner. It looks nice, then I washed the 3 rockers in front room and 2 in breezeway. Washed the rubber rug Ike bought us and cleaned 2 spots on the runner and I am pooped out.

I sewed my night dress. Dad went to Plainwell. I am dizzy but try to do a little to gain my strength. I talked to Mrs. Hardy and told her about the verse in Bible, Ezc 16 chap 6 verse to stop bleeding. I did Dad's wash this afternoon. I did mine this morning. I don't feel too good.

Stayed home all day, Dad went to Cooper store to get prune juice, peas and other groceries. Daisy called and said Shirley Temple was on, it was good. the prune juice I bought is real good.

Went to Dr. McDill. Sometimes I don't think he tries to do something for his patients. Went to Daisy's first, she has her house about all cleaned, it looked real nice. I slept fairly after I took a pill for my heart.

I did some wash I am not too good. I am so weak I try to help Orby but I can't hardly do anything and i think he don't like it but I just can't I am too weak. I got Letter form Merle with his picture and wasn't I glad to get it. It was good of him with other policemen.

Orpha is coming over to fix my hair. Rosemary will come too. I think she is a Darling, well my girl is too. I could not get a long with out her. Orpha and Rosemary came and i had dinner all prepared in oven, we had a nice visit, also I gave Rosemary $2.00 for ironing 4 dresses and cleaning up dinner dishes. Silver curle was $1.93 including the tax before I paid $2.47 saved 54 cents. Orpha got it at her store. (Now I wish I would have done more for Gma and Gpa, I guess at 13 you don't think about much other than yourself)

I tried to clean my house a little, looked for Daisy but it rained in the afternoon so they did not come, sold 5 quarts of berries.

Nice day but chilly after the rain. Pete and Effie came for a short visit. Pete don't feel too good, he is now wearing a corset for his back. Well Daisy and Ike came, stayed a while. Daisy's feet pretty bad, she now has a bunion on each side of 1 foot, poor kid, I feel sorry for her.

Ike and Dad went fishing at Big Lake and stayed all day. I was over to Daisy's and she got pretty worried till they came home. they got lots of nice fish. Ike caught his limit, I guess we had about 4 inches of rainfall now all together.

Went to Dennis' around noon. She wanted us to come for dinner, had mixed vegetables, fired potatoes and pork chops and peach pie. Was a good dinner, then we went over to see Hardy's, he looks bad and she is wearing herself out.

Went to Orpha's as Orby went to Kalamazoo to buy new shoes. Orpha took Rosemary over to the school to play golf and then Orpha stopped at Claudia's and then we went back to Orpha's. The baby is around 9 months, and as quiet as she can be, she is never afraid of anybody and plays so cute. (Dennise) My little Grand Daughter (Claudia) is going to get another baby in 8 months.

I did a wash this morning. I will wash anothe rbatch of clothes. I talked with Mrs. Hardy and she said Hardy was no better and she had a Birthday party given her by friends.

I sewed my night dress. Dad went to Plainwell. I am dizzy but try to do a little to gain my strength. I talked to Mrs. Hardy and told her about the verse in Bible, Ezc 16 chap 6 verse to stop bleeding. I did Dad's wash this afternoon. I did mine this morning. I don't feel too good.

Orpha is coming over to fix my hair. Rosemary will come too. I think she is a Darling, well my girl is too. I could not get a long with out her. Orpha and Rosemary came and i had dinner all prepared in oven, we had a nice visit, also I gave Rosemary $2.00 for ironing 4 dresses and cleaning up dinner dishes. Silver curle was $1.93 including the tax before I paid $2.47 saved 54 cents. Orpha got it at her store. (Now I wish I would have done more for Gma and Gpa, I guess at 13 you don't think about much other than yourself)

Nice day but chilly after the rain. Pete and Effie came for a short visit. Pete don't feel too good, he is now wearing a corset for his back. Well Daisy and Ike came, stayed a while. Daisy's feet pretty bad, she now has a bunion on each side of 1 foot, poor kid, I feel sorry for her.

Went to Orpha's as Orby went to Kalamazoo to buy new shoes. Orpha took Rosemary over to the school to play golf and then Orpha stopped at Claudia's and then we went back to Orpha's. The baby is around 9 months, and as quiet as she can be, she is never afraid of anybody and plays so cute. (Dennise) My little Grand Daughter (Claudia) is going to get another baby in 8 months.

(Rosa is 82 and Orby is almost 80. They still live at 8712 Douglas Drive, Kalamazoo Michigan, Cooper Township. Orby has the house for sale, the 5 acres seems to be too much work for him, Rosa does not like the idea of selling her home.)

The reception was held at 7 in the evening, north of Plainwell. Had buns, potato salad, beans and ham, punch or coffee. Sandy and Gary looked real nice. Cake was served, some dancing. Bud, Orpha, Rosemary, Claudia, Dennis, Bob and Karla was there. We came home around pm. so did Ike and Daisy, Donald's did not come.

Went to Orpha's and had a nice time, saw the two babies and they are growing like mad. Claudia's baby (Dennise) has been in a walker that when it is standing by a chair it thinks it can strike right off and walk, it is so sweet and Bob's baby (Brian) is so sweet, it is sure a good baby, laughs out loud and can roll over on his belly, he is 5 months the 4th of June. Claudia's baby (Dennise) was born in October 25, 1962, she will be 1 year old in October 1963. Dennise is 11 weeks older than Brian.

Another note says House at Byrd Drive, near Kalamazoo Airport, paid $9,000.00 for house, $500.00 for extra lot, $420.00 tax and pump total $9,920.00 but have gotten $5,525.00 in payment and rent so we only have $4,395.00 total in it, that is the one Wagner's have)

Mrs. Bierma was here a while. She was a sister to the man Mrs. and Mr. Nagles that lived in the house we built for Bud's Body Shop. They were real nice people, sold $5.00 asparagus. Bud is not well, I hope he is lot better today. Got letter from a man in Mesa, he thought he had his house sold but the man got transferred so he had to give it up.

He is 4 1/2 months, laughs all the time and is a very good baby. Brenda is growing too. Went to Ike's and Daisy and Rosie, Jerry and Sharon was there. They all looked good also Betty and Patty was there a while, all planning for the wedding of Sandy. They will live in a house trailer.

Went to Daisy's for our Mother's Day dinner and time saw Ike's new boat. It is nice $150.00. Dad and Ike talked all the time, my flowers look beautiful.

Mrs. Bierma was here a while. She was a sister to the man Mrs. and Mr. Nagles that lived in the house we built for Bud's Body Shop. They were real nice people, sold $5.00 asparagus. Bud is not well, I hope he is lot better today. Got letter from a man in Mesa, he thought he had his house sold but the man got transferred so he had to give it up.

Daisy and Ike was over for dinner, then the men went over to Hoken Lake and took the new boat Ike bought and they caught 20 nice ones. Then Ike would not take any, give us all. I wish they would have taken some for their dinner too, as we had plenty.

I cleaned out the dresser drawers and sorted over the pictures. Received letter from Merle and Bessie. Willard was not too well. Received stockings form Sears. At store I ordered 3 pair for Daisy and 6 pair for myself. They are clingalon hosiery, stretch seamless all nylon ultra sheer reinforced heal and toe. Claud Riviere. 3 pair $2.94, 6 pair $5.82.

Daisy and Ike came over and Dad and Ike went fishing. Orpah put my hair on curlers and it looked nice. I was not too well but we had a good time talking. I think Daisy feels better and i am so thankful as she has been so miserable so long.

Well, we went to Orpha and Bud's had a lovely time and delicious dinner. Rosemary baked the cake and she is a darling to help with everything. Claudia was there also, the baby (Dennise) is a sweet heart. then after dinner we went for a ride in the new car and stopped at Bob's saw Brian he is sure growing. He is 4 1/2 months, laughs all the time and is a very good baby. Brenda is growing too. We sure had a nice day, stopped where Dennis was working, got some drinks, not beer..Ha Ha. bud said Walter Gates and wife were both dead.

Went to Otsego, got milk. Daisy sent her red coat home with me to fix, it was a job. We put flowers on Grandpa's grave (Orby's father, John Fouts, buried in Otsego Cemetery) and the peonie is growing but is not in bud. We put a yellow Iris on it today, it was lovely.

Well, I washed two washings today and finished Daisy's coat, it is a lovely day. Mrs. Dennis called they are pretty well. I am going to ask them over for Sunday dinner, nicest day we have had.

I did some wash, ironed my clothes, vacuum cleaned my rooms, then after dinner went to Daisy's. Ike and Dad went fishing, caught 9 fish, had our supper at Daisy's, was a nice day.

Emma, Mazy and Molly live in California at Beressa. We picked up prunes there. I was 12 years old and made $20.00 in one month. I loved Emma so very much. She used to sing "My Sweet is the man in the moon, I will marry him soon", I think her sweet heart's last name was moon.
Aunt Moll was Uncle Will Maslander's sister and Uncle Nelson Harsh. Emma, their daughter and Rosa Watson lived together at LaFountain Indiana. Rosa had a daughter Bernice Watson.

Well we started cleaning front room. Dad swept the walls and cleaned windows some, I went over the carpet 4 times. Tomorrow I want to wash the carpet and chairs. Cleaning house is for the younger women. I like it but it is too much for me. I sure am tired out. (Rosa is 82 and Orby will be 80 in August.)

I did not do much today. this afternoon I took real sick and was sick all afternoon. Called for Dr. Goddard for an appointment 10:45 am Saturday. I think it is my heart. Dad brought in a nice bunch of daffodils, some yellow with deep orange center, some white with yellow centers, a different kind, some with Salmon color. Daisy and Ike come over a while tonight and while they were here Effie and Pete come. Pete is bad off with his back. I feel sorry for anyone sick. I had a hard spell today, long time getting over it. Effie and Pete stayed to nearly 9pm.

We went to Mesa to see a place for sale. It was just beautiful but was $15,500.00, so I guess it is too rich for us. It had lots of fruit trees, flowers and grapes. It had underground irrigation.

Merle and Letha came over for supper. The minister brought them over as Merle's battery was down. Then after supper Dad took Merle to Phoenix to get new battery. Joyce's Birthday today. Wrote card to Mrs. Hardy. Got letter from Orpha sent 22nd of March, arrived Monday morning 25th. I called Bessie to go gadding this afternoon around 2 o'clock. Willard is going to see a man about a car before we go riding. Willard's bought a used Chevrolet car 1958 and we took them to red barn for supper $4.08 for all of us.

It is a lovely day. It is not nine o'clock, we have no fire, windows up, door open. Orby out washing his car, he has no hat on, sleeves rolled up. Kids been barefooted
ever since we come in February. My roses are lovely and there are oceans of flowers all over in bloom. Letha brought her cooker over for me to cook my meat in tomorrow. got letter from Mrs. Dennis, nice one.

We are expecting Joyce, Fred and Connie over for supper tonight. It is a very nice day. Got letter from Daisy with Toddy daughter's marriage announcement. Connie was 3 ft. 3 inches tall, weights 35 lbs. Fed 5 ft. 11 inches, Dad 5 ft. 9 1/2. Had a good time.

I did a small wash and straightened up to get ready to go home.

Will go to Merle's today. Had a swell dinner and good time. Merle goes to work Sunday after noon.

Baby Brian is 2 months old today. Today is nice, I went to Joyce's to sew, I made a pink ruffle for my east window, it looks nice. We had a nice long talk, Connie is cute but is spoiled.

Merle was here last night, we had taken Letha over to Joyce to get her hair done.

Nice day and Dad went see about insurance on house hold goods but it was no good unless we would be there to live in it off and on.

Went to Joyce, had supper with them. Connie is growing big, she is a very pretty little girl. Fed is the same, he showed us the Lord's picture that Joyce painted. It is nice she did it from numbers.

Willard and us went to Phoenix today and shopped at big store. They are coming tomorrow for dinner, changed minds, will come some other time.

Went with Willard's to Phoenix to get Bessie watch, had our dinners to a large store.

Went to Merle's for dinner. Clare and his boy friend was there. We went over to see where Clare had rented an apartment together him and a friend.

Today, I am going to wash. Took part of wash to wash place. Nice day. Willard gave Orby a large lounging chair to use and gave us some connas to set out. Nice day, they are looking real good.

Did my ironing. Dad just went to Mesa. Another nice day, wrote to Mrs. Dennis, but lost her address so can't sent it. I feel bad about it as I wanted to tell her the news.

Today, Orby cut grass in yard. Looks nice. Nice day, sat out doors with out coat or something on my head, it sure is awful nice weather in Tempe Arizona.

We went to Mesa to see a place for sale. It was just beautiful but was $15,500.00, so I guess it is too rich for us. It had lots of fruit trees, flowers and grapes. It had underground irrigation.

Merle and Letha came over for supper. The minister brought them over as Merle's battery was down. Then after supper Dad took Merle to Phoenix to get new battery. Then we all went over to Merle's and Merle and Dad put it in his car. Letha brought over a date cake it was awful good. In evening I did not feel too well.

Stayed home all day, it has been a little cool this morning but the sun shone and it got nice and warm. We have fire out and windows and doors open. Had Maxwell sale here 13 days, I did not go.

We went over to Willard's for dinner and it rained all afternoon but turned out nice and are house don't leak.

Went past a place and he said his taxes was $256.00 a year but is a very nice place on S. Sunshine Street, 6503 Mesa. We told him we did not want it too much for us to pay.

chilly today, have a slow fire. Will give Joyce her Christmas gift. I did not get sent Christmas as I was not well. Snow was so deep and I wanted to get an extra box to put it in to send. It was a yellow with red roses. It was very nice. I got Bessie a yellow canister set. $2.98 tax 8 cents. Merle and Letha was over a while tonight.

Dad went to get the wash done. The sun shining nice and it is not as cold as it was yesterday. Joyce and Connie was here for dinner. I twas pretty warm today. Went ot Willard's took over Bessie gift.

Spring begins. It is chilly this morning. got letter from daisy, said Rosie had the flu and Dorthy was not so well, her fingers has ulcers on them and they are watching her for cancer. Said Sandy has her wedding gown. She said she saw 3 robins and Dorothy said she had 2 in her yard for a week and Daisy said a flock of geese flew over. It is spring.

Merle and Letha was here a while and we gave them $10.00 a piece. $5.00 for last Christmas and $5.00 a piece for their 1963 Birthdays. They went to church. We was also around with Willard's looking for him a different car.

Orby's father married Mary Ginkins. Will give Joyce yellow flowers for her birthday. She will be 27 tomorrow. Also Fred was 30 March 1963. Connie's birthday is October 13. They are going to Merle's for dinner. Cards wrote to Daisy and Mrs. Dennis.

Joyce's Birthday today. Wrote card to Mrs. Hardy. Got letter from Orpha sent 22nd of March, arrived Monday morning 25th. I called Bessie to go gadding this afternoon around 2 o'clock. Willard is going to see a man about a car before we go riding. Willard's bought a used Chevrolet car 1958 and we took them to red barn for supper $4.08 for all of us.

Went with Willard's to hear Oral Roberts, it was good. I enjoyed it a lot. Saw many got up to be healed, he had a large tent and it was filled.

Wrote Orpha letter. Folks come to look at the place on George Drive, they want it they said. Merle and Letha was here a few minutes, I guess Letha will quit her job.
