Saturday, May 1, 1965
Did some cleaning. Dad mopped kitchen and bath. I cleaned the register. It is cloudy today. Bud and Claudia came out for the grape vines.
Sunday, May 2, 1965
We went to the Brethren Church, enjoyed ourselves, came home, got dinner then Bud and Orpha came over and took a long ride over to some lake where he was looking to put his pontoon. Had a nice day. Bud and Orpha stayed for lunch.

Dad went to sell some asparagus, just got back.
Tuesday, May 4, 1965
Sent for some vitamins to Nature Center, Mass $14.14.

Put some sheets in bleach. Ike came over, Dad took some asparagus to sell.
Thursday, May 6, 1965
I washed some sheets. Mrs. Bastain was over when I was putting out my wash. She seems nice but has never been in my house, I've been at her house 3 times. I called Bud last night for them to keep paper of taxes for me. I showed her my crochet work, she did not stay too long.
Friday, May 7, 1965
Dorothy and Rosie goes to Ann Arbor today. Ike takes them. They won't stay. Dad is putting out flowers north of garage, will have a mess of dandelions today for dinner. Bastain got new riding mower. I washed my two rugs, got Mother's day card from Dorothy and Butch.

I got a nice tablecloth from Merle's in card also a nice handkerchief from Joyce and card. Got card from Dorothy and Butch. I mopped breezeway, washed and ironed. I am tired out.
Sunday, May 9, 1965
Mother's Day. Orpha and Bud was here a short time, brought me a lovely large Mother's day card and some cosmetics. I love them all, then after dinner we drove to South Bend to Elmer and Barbara, they was not at home. Then we drove to Dowagiac to see Peg and Roy, visited there a while, then on way home stopped to Blanches and they were gone, had a lovely drive.
Monday, May 10, 1965
I washed my blue housecoat and did my black slip. Dad is out picking his asparagus. I think Dennis' got home yesterday. Ike gave me $2.00 for Mother's day.

Mrs. Dennis called. I am washing, Dad is cultivating corn. Dorothea went back to Florida. Daniel Boone, Death Valley Days and Red Skelton is good.
Wednesday, May 12, 1965
I went to Rosie's and had a nice visit. Then stopped t Ike's a few minutes. Saw Sharon, she Graduates this year. (From Otsego High School) Dad went and sold 32 lb. of asparagus. Mrs. Dennis called, said she had been cleaning. Ike gave us some Macintosh apples.

I did some wash and ironing, my head aches. It is somewhat chilly, will soon start supper.

We had an early dinner, then drove over to see Dennis' and they got home the 9th of May. They look pretty good. There was a man there to fix their TV. We did not stay too long.

Well Dad went to sell his asparagus to Kalamazoo. I called orpha, she don't feel too good. She said the man that sold that pink shuttered house was one cutting grass for Mrs. Parker.

Orpha was over, we had dinner and a good time. I always do for I love my dear children beyond works.

I did my wash and washed colored clothes. I cut 2 dresses and made smaller also I fixed a sleeveless dress. I fixed pockets and made it shorter.
Wednesday, May 19, 1965
Bud brought mower home, had it down to shop for an old man to fix. I set coffee and glazed donuts for him bu the took the coffee but not the donuts. Ike was also here, brought the papers. Dad gave him a bunch of asparagus also sent Dorothy a bunch. We gave Bud some too. bud said Mrs. Parker was at home.

It is nice. Sun shinny day and i cleaned my front room. changed furniture around. Dad is mowing the yard. Sold 5 lbs. asparagus at house this side of Indian Camp.
Friday, May 21, 1965
Dad stopped at bud's and he said he was not too good, his back hurt also my back hurts. I did too much work today. Cleaned the refrigerator and washed cupboard doors beside cleaning the floors.
Saturday, May 22, 1965
I sent an order for a dress at Lane Bryant. My order was $12.36. I am going to Orpha's for a shot time this morning. Well I stayed longer than I thought. We had lunch for dinner and stayed quite a while after dinner. Dennis came over to help bud spade in flower bed. Then we went to Ike's after just went straight on the main road. We bought a jar of yellow mums at Plainwell.

Rained from 9 o'clock to 1 o'clock pm. and verey thing looks nice. Sunday night Mr. and Mrs. Warner was here.

Orpha and Rosemary was here and she took us to see the marker she bought for her baby's grave. (Arlene Joyce Gimbel, at Mountain Home Cemetery)
Tuesday, May 25, 1965
I did a wash and it dried so I also did an ironing. Orpha was here at noon with Dennise, did not stay long. (Dennise Westra, Claudia's oldest daughter)

I dried my spread, then Dad's, made it narrower as he was tearing it so was the bed leg when moved. He never watched moving it so the spread got under it as the spread was quite old.
Friday, May 28, 1965
9 o'clock, Channel 3 and 6, Our Private World, Letha. We bought a nice yellow mum plant for Grandpa's grave. (She is referring to John Fouts, Orby's Father, he is buried at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego, Michigan.)

Went to the store bought a nice flower for daisy's grave also for Grandpa put some flowers on Orpha's baby's grave. Stopped at Ike's. Rosie and Gerry was there had quite a nice visit.

Look for Dennis' today. Well, they came early and we sure had a good time, after dinner we went to Otsego Cemetery and it was all decorated up nice.
Monday, May 31, 1965
Well, Monday Orby took some asparagus to Kalamazoo and sold it. I thought it would be hard to get rid of but it wasn't.
