37 eggs. Sowed clover seed.
Friday, April 2, 1943
34 eggs. Made brooder house units, cost $2.98 board, cost $1.12 a piece. My sister Lydia's birthday, she is 64 years, I sure would like to see her.
Saturday, April 3, 1943
37 eggs. Orpha and Bud was here and I sold her 3 doz. eggs and 1#4oz butter, sold 26 @36 ct. I kept 1#5oz, last butter. I sold in 1943.

32 eggs. Raining today.
Monday, April 5, 1943
36 eggs. I packed down. 2#7oz. butter. Today is primary election, did went to vote but I voted at home.
Tuesday, April 6, 1943
34 eggs. Got my chickens 200 Cockerel from Little Bro. $22.00, sure cold, made other brooder house, stayed up late and both of us are tired!
Wednesday April 7, 1943
40 eggs. Helped dad make a pen in barn for large sow, some warmer today.
Thursday, April 8, 1943
34 eggs. Took heifer to bull. We fixed hog fence north side. Nice day. The sow got hurt, the old sow hurt it.
Friday, April 9, 1943
42 eggs. I churned 2#15oz. butter, I have now packed 4#5oz. to date. Willard's was just her, said little Betty Fouts burn so bad she died, will be buried tomorrow, Saturday pm. Took small pigs from sows.
Saturday, April 10, 1943
34 eggs. Went to little Betty Lue Vandenburg's funeral at Decatur, they buried her in Hamiltons cemetery. She had a very large funeral, lots of flowers, she was 7 years 11 months old. We gave $1.50 toward flowers.

39 eggs. Stayed home, Orby hauled out stone from old chicken yard. Our kitten got hurt in tractor and Orby killed it.

28 eggs. Sold 23 doz. eggs today @36 cts a doz. Went to Otsego to get rent.
Tuesday, April 13, 1943
44 eggs. I churned 2#8oz butter, packed 1#8oz. Sure a windy, cold day. Snowed for a short while but soon melted.

38 eggs. Buds was here they had been to Dr. at Vicksburg as Buds been ill.

36 eggs. Just finished hog fence, moved the brood house in pen lot for the sow, they is going to have pigs. Just finished ironing, I am tired and leg hurts. Dad's birthday, had he lived he would be 89 years.

34 eggs. Sure is windy and cold.

41 eggs. It is a very nice day, I churned 2#13oz, I packed 1#8oz. of it.

40 eggs. It is rainy cold and bad, got hog feed today. Stopped miling cow (May), Rented house on Morrell street. Our chickens have a cold, I am using Pratt's spray.
Tuesday, April 20, 1943
44 eggs. It is rainy and cold. Today we are working on bathroom door. The large sow had pigs today 7 but 1 died. Also our cat had kittens. Made 3#2oz. butter last, I will churn now till our old cow gets her calf.

26 eggs. Orby bought a used tire and a bail of Shavings. It is nice today, Orby got some new dope for the chickens.
Thursday, April 22, 1943
30 eggs. Orby commenced plowing ground for oats, nice day. Lost one of my large yellow chicks. Just weeks till May calves.
Friday, April 23, 1943
27 eggs. Orby is plowing, I am cleaning. Got letter from Daisy said she rented house to Stratton rooms on Orleans but they did not take it.
Saturday, April 24, 1943
19 eggs. Our other large saw had 6 pigs, 1 died. Nice day, Orby finished plowing the 20 acres.
Sunday, April 25, 1943 Easter.
28 eggs. Orpahs was here this afternoon, then came Merle's, then came Elmer's, their adopted baby is awful nice 3 months old, very nice day.

Orby is dragging oats ground, went to Otsego.

7 eggs. Orby took heifer away today.
Thursday, April 29, 1943
My sow had 7 pigs today, got shoes from Wards $2.49.
Friday, April 30, 1943
8 eggs. My back sure ached and it is cold, damp.
