(Rosa wrote in diary on Memoranda page: What would I give dear Brother to clasp your hand. Your happy face to see, to hear your voice, to see you smile. It would mean so much to me. Sister Rosa.)

Tuesday, June 1, 1943
I had my permanent today, cost $4.00. Sister Silva Birthday, she is 63.
Wednesday, June 2, 1943
4 eggs. Our cow may have got heifer calf today, we took 32 chickens to Oshtemo. Dr. Dafoe, who saved two Dionne quintuplets which were born May 28, 1934, died today June 2, 1943, age 60 years.(Rosa was interested in the famous "Dionne quintuplets")
Thursday, June 3, 1943
5 eggs. We cleaned out chicken coop, put new shavings in. Orby went and took 11 pigs to sale, got $5.00 a head, he bought head lights for tractor.
Friday, June 4, 1943
6 eggs. Got 2 lbs. coffee, took lawn mower to have fixed.
Saturday, June 5, 1943
6 eggs. Planted corn today, cost $10.43, Mr. Graham planted, took dinner with us.
Sunday, June 6, 1943
7 eggs. Dad planted water and musk melon, and lettuce, radish seed. Set out onions.
Monday, June 7, 1943
6 eggs. Sent in for our number 3 ration book. It is a gloomy day, but I am doing the wash. I have a big one, Dad is husking some corn.
Tuesday, June 8, 1943
Had lawn mower sharpened to day, bought 1 lb. starch.
Wednesday, June 9, 1943
6 eggs. Big sow took boar and I think little sow. Planted potatoes in southwest field.
Thursday, June 10, 1943
6 eggs. Planted popcorn and my sweet corn.
Friday, June 11, 1943
5 eggs. Finish planting potatoes and shucked corn.

4 eggs. Today Orby and I decided we would not buy any more ready made feed. We would make our own, after we decided a man said they did not have the fed made as directed.
I made first butter 1 3/4 lb from 1 days milking.

3 eggs. Went to Merle's for dinner, had a good time, took ride passed his country place. Brought Joyce and David home to stay a week. Went past Orphas, Bud's dad was there.

5 eggs. The children are having a swell time, I churned butter.

4 eggs. Sure is a lovely day, not too hot or too cold.

5 eggs. The children's cold are some better, we got them some Pinex for their cough.

4 egg. Orby went to sale, took pigs and some junk. I churned today.

4 eggs. I got letter from my sister, she has been having trouble with her eyes, also she was driven out by the flood.

Nice day, the children sure having a swell time, and I sure love them. today in 1883 my brother was born, how I miss him, he would be 60 years old. (William Sylvester Hann)

It is some warmer, We took the children home today.

4 eggs. Orby is hoeing out weeds in garden.

5 eggs. I did my wash. It is quite warm today, Orby is husking corn, I wrote Bessie a letter telling her we would come Sunday. (Bessie is married to Willard Fouts)

3 eggs. Took 4 pigs to sale, got $56.00. Little sow that lost pigs.

Started cutting hay. It sure is sultry today.

4 eggs. It is a gloomy day, hay won't dry so good.
Sunday, June 27, 1943
We in tented to go to Willard's but the men come and bailed our hay. It rained around 3pm. We did not get all in, we had 168 bails, we have 33 out yet, as they got wet.
Monday, June 28, 1943
5 eggs. It is some what cooler, quite cold but sure enjoy it. Sold Orpha 2#7oz, Merle 2#5oz, Daisy 2#1oz, kept 2#9oz.
Tuesday, June 29, 1943
1 egg. Went to Willard's, Bessie is papering her bedroom, looks nice. She was keeping a baby for a lady that went to her man in California. Sent order off $9.30 to Spiegel today. We bought fence hangers $21.58 including fittings. I gave 1/2. Sure cold last night, we thought sure it would frost, but is did not.

4 eggs. Orby is cultivating field corn, second time. I did my wash.
