January 1944

(Rosa and Orby are living on the farm in Vicksburg but it sounds like they are thinking of selling it, they sell a home in Otsego to Merle, and Rosa is afraid Merle might have to go in the Army.)

Saturday, January 1, 1944
I cleaned house and getting ready for Merle's tomorrow.
Sunday, January 2, 1944
Merle's came and the children went home.
Monday, January 3, 1944
Went after rent, Merle wants to buy our place in Otsego but I don't want to sell very bad.
Tuesday, January 4, 1944
We took big sow to have butchered, then went and cleaned 2 rooms at Parchment. Nice day. (Not for the sow)
Wednesday, January 5, 1944
Merle was here, they want to buy the Otsego home. I sure hate to sell it, but Dad said he would not buy carpet for it, I did my washing to day, nice day.
Thursday, January 6, 1944
Little colder, sign up to Cecil Clapp to sell our farm in 84 days.
Friday, January 7, 1944
Nice day, Orby went to Parchment to paint front room. I stayed home as it was too cold over there without fire.

Nice day, Went to Orphas, Orby went to sale, Bud was still sick, dad don't feel so good.
Sunday, January 9, 1944
Stayed home, thought sure Ike would come but no one came. Nice day.
Monday, January 10, 1944
Went to Otsego, told Mr. Weaver we would sell home. I went to Mrs. Parsons and Mrs. Moore. The children sur are growing big.

Dad still don't feel so good, it is a very nice day.

Nice day. Merle and Letha came over, we sold him the place in Otsego. He paid $1,000.00 down on it, I sure hated to give it up but would rather one of my dear children got it.

Orby went and got oil changed in car, bought coal, cow feed and it is a very nice day.

Went to Orphas, then Merle came, he thinks he will get reclassified for army. I pray he won't, it would nearly kill me.

Went to Otsego, expected to see Donald but he had gone with a boy he has 15 day furlough. It sure was a lovely January, not one day was bad in January. (Donald is Daisy's son).
