Monday, March 1, 1943
28 eggs. Went to Otsego, took Merle butter 1@2oz. 47 ct., Daisy butter 1#5oz. Bought broiler mash, middlings. The two young sow had pigs, one 7 the other 6.
Tuesday, March 2, 1943
30 eggs. Sure cold, I expect will loose lot of pigs, as the barn is so cold.
Wednesday, March 3, 1943
31 eggs. The other sow had pigs today, she had 8, 2 died. Some of the pigs died from the first two sows.
Thursday, March 4, 1943
28 eggs. I did the wash, sure windy and cold. Lost quite lot pigs, we now have 13 left.
Friday, March 5, 1943
9 eggs. We lost another little piggie, so now have 12 left. Butter for us 1#14oz., sold Orpha 1#6oz.

32 eggs. It is still cold and windy, hard on the little pigs.
Sunday, March 7, 1943
28 eggs. To day, some warmer, sun shinning, nice but wind is cold. Our car won't run, something wrong with starter.
Monday, March 8, 1943
28 eggs. Made butter. Letha 1#4oz. Daisy 1#9oz. Orby went to Otsego, I stayed home, the car was on the bum and Orby stopped at Kalamazoo to have it fixed. We now have 10 pigs left out of 21, too bad.

26 eggs. Still cold windy. Last week butter I made, 6#1oz. Little pigs doing pretty good now.

26 eggs. It is a very gloomy day.

30 eggs. Went to Merle's for dinner, his chickens weigh 2 lb. at 6 weeks old, sure are nice chicks, they have 300 more ordered. Nice day. Sold eggs to bakery.
Friday, March 12, 1943
22 eggs. Went to Orphas as dad went to Kalamazoo to get his income made out. Nice day took Orpha 1#5oz. butter, kept 1#15oz.

26 eggs. Orby had to go back to Kalamazoo to have his income made, nice day.
Sunday, March 14,1943
32 eggs. Orby cleaned out the west side hen coop for the little chickens.
Monday, March 15, 1943
36 eggs. Young sow that had pigs took boar. It is raining, but not very cold. Daisy 1#5oz, Letha 1#1oz. Stop selling butter till May gets calf.

32 eggs. I hung out few chothes that did not dry yesterday, nice day.
Wednesday, March 17, 1943
23 eggs. I cleaned the porch today, sure tired. I have the brooder in hen coop, aim to put the chicks out soon as it warms a little, awful windy.

30 eggs. I washed my porch curtains and dyed them yellow.
Friday, March 19, 1943
33 eggs. We changed chickens and put them in hen house, I had 162 left, I had real poor luck with the first bunch. The oldest they are 4 weeks, the younger ones 3 1/2 weeks.
Saturday, March 20, 1943
32 eggs. I cleaned the kitchen, porch, hall, front room and I am tired. One chicken died last nite, now I have 161.
Sunday, March 21, 1943
28 eggs. Stayed home all day, Buds and his Dads was here last night, sold Orpha 1#5oz, butter and 4 doz. eggs. Gladys 2 doz. 36 ct. a dog, I kept 1#14 oz. butter. (Gladys is Buds step-mother)

33 eggs. I am cleaning house and I am tired, sold Daisy 1#5oz Letha 1# butter.

32 eggs. I am now commenced on front room and dining room. I washed carpet in front room, it looks nice.

39 eggs. Cleaning the dining room, washed the carpet.
Thursday, March 25, 1943
33 eggs. Washed windows and cleaned. Orby put up the new chicken fence today.
Friday, March 26, 1943
28 eggs. Did the wash, and washed the curtains in dining room and colored front room curtains. Churned butter, Orpah 1#. Got dress from Spiegels. I kept 1#14oz.

32 eggs. Went to Orpha awhile, Bud and Neil was laying foundation for garage, their chickens weigh over 2 1/2 lb. they are nice. (Neil Davis, a good friend of Orpha and Bud).
Monday, March 29, 1943
34 eggs. churned, Letha 1#5oz. Daisy 1#4oz, kept 15oz.
Tuesday, March 30, 1943
36 eggs. Cleaned out under the brooder today. Today my chicks are 6 weeks old, Bud was her, Orby and Bud cut pigs.
Wednesday, March 31, 1943
34 eggs. Cleaned bathroom and did my wash.
