7 eggs. Red sow should have pigs. (Rosa note: they ran over time born Sept.6)

12 eggs. I am canning tomatoes.
Friday, September 3, 1943
6 eggs. Got letter from Bessie, she want us for dinner Sunday. Orby is fixing electric fence for hogs and cows.

3 eggs. We are going to Willard's tomorrow.

7 eggs. We did not go to Willard's.
Monday, September 6, 1943
5 eggs. Labor Day. Lame Sow had 9 pigs today.

7 eggs. I canned tomatoes, my back hurt me bad today, also my legs.

11 eggs. Orby is plowing for wheat.

9 eggs. Orby is dragging ground.
Friday, September 10, 1943
5 eggs. Orby got through draging wheat ground today. Today had our first fire for all day. Merle was here a few minutes this morning and may come Sunday.

It frost last nite, Orby went to Vicksburg to see about getting deed made for Merle to sell his place in country.
Sunday, September 12, 1943
7 eggs. Merle's was here for dinner, I had a 6 1/4 lb. chicken for dinner, had a lovely time. Little pig died last nite.
Monday, September 13, 1943
6 eggs. We went to Merle's to make over deed for his place in country. Mr. Pallet bought it for $1,500.00. It is misting rain and did rain some today but rained all night last nite.

9 eggs. I did a little cleaning.

7 egg. I did my wash, Elmer's came to dinner, they say they are going to California the last of this month.

7 eggs. We bought 30 bushel wheat at $1.63 per bushel, 2 ton of fertilizer at $31.90 per ton. Discount all total $60.70, nice day.

10 eggs. I cleaned house.
Saturday, September 18, 1943
7 eggs. We went and saw a little dog then they brought it Saturday nite, paid $1.00 for it. Named Bush.

6 eggs. Daisy's was here also Jerry and Rosa, Kenneth and Betty, had a lovely time. Rosa is going to Oregon with Jerry. (Rosa/Rosie and Betty are Daisy's daughters with their husbands Jerry and Kenneth McLaughlin, they married brothers)

7 eggs. We commenced sowing wheat today 1:30 pm. Just one year to day that we sowed the 1942 wheat.

Got thought drilling wheat at 10 o'clock, went to Orpha, then to Otsego to collect rent this evening.

9 eggs. I did my wash, very nice day.
Thursday, September 23, 1943
7 eggs. Hard frost. Dad took sows to market, got $35.00 for small one and $36.00 for old sow.

8 eggs. Nice day, Orby is digging potatoes. Sold two shoats tonight, $28.00 each, $56.00. Raining tonight. (Sheeps/Goats?)

7 eggs. Orby went to Kalamazoo today bought some medicine for hog worms. (ewww)

11 eggs. Stayed home, Orpha was here a while today, sure nice today.
Monday, September 27, 1943
10 eggs. Got letter from Elmer's, they are on way to California. Orby went to Kalamazoo sold a load of corn @$.22 bushel got electric battery for fence cost $22.00 for it. Went to collect rent, Ike have a little kitten, a very nice day.
Tuesday, September 28, 1943
9 eggs. Orby took load oat to Kalamazoo, got 78 ct. per bushel. Mr. Carter is drilling his wheat today. Give dog worm medicine. Sold Letha 1#7oz. butter, Daisy 1#4oz. I kept 3#1oz. Orby got me sweater, cost $2.57.

11 eggs. Took corn to Astons, Sold @$1.22 per bushel. Then went to sale over by gobles, bought ashtray $2.25 and looking glass $2.50 and curtains. The big sow got 4 pigs.
Thursday, September 30, 1943
9 eggs. Went to market, took 16 pullets, sold $19.70. Orby bought potato fork 60 cts. Took Orpha butter 2#15oz. $1.41.
