(Rosa and Orby get another granddaughter, but I am surprised that Rosa doesn't write much about it before time, I'm sure she would have known. Could be because Orpha and Bud had a baby girl in 1930 that died)

Did my wash.

Did ironing.

Orby went to sale, I went today. Orby fixed the stove, I will go to Orphas tomorrow, sure lovely day. Our dog got hurt last night.
Friday, February 4, 1944
Nice day. Orby tried to fix motor to pump, I wrote Joyce a letter, she is so sweet.
Saturday, February 5, 1944
Orby took motor to pump to Comstock to have fixed, cost $1.50.
Sunday, February 6, 1944
Went to Willard's, Bessie was to Sunday school but Willard was home. Was a nice day, had a very nice time. He has Freddie's brother with him now, been there Sunday, 2 weeks 2 days.
Monday, February 7, 1944
Went to Otsego to collect rent, Donald was home, intended to leave for camp Wednesday. I do pray he will come home from War safe.

Did my wash and churned. Orby washed kitchen, will paint it soon.
Wednesday, February 9, 1944
I did my ironing, Orby painted kitchen cupboards.
Thursday, February 10, 1944
I cleaned out cupboards, it started snowing around 10:30 am today.
Friday, February 11, 1944
I put up curtains, I had washed and fixed my electric sweeper, mopped and cleaned rooms. Lots of snow on ground. Orby put sow in hen house to have her pigs.

A very nice day but ground is covered with snow. Orby is trying to start the car.

My birthday (63)I got picture of bobby and picture of Donald, Merle got me box of candy.
Monday, February 14, 1944
Went to Otsego to get rent, Rosie said Jerry was going to come home on furlough soon. Stopped at Merle's. I sure hope he won't go to the army. Orpha was getting ready to go to the hospital.

Orpha had her baby last night 9:10 pm, (Valentines Day) a girl weigh 8#4oz., name Claudia Anita, sure was sad as she had told me once she would name a girl for me. (Daisy named one of her daughters after Rosa and she expected Orpha to also, not this time, but I think that is why my name is Rosemary.)

Went to hospital, dad went to sale.

Dad went to hospital to see Orpha.

Our Sadie cow will get her calf 1944. I went to hospital, Orpha said Bud was going to take her home tomorrow.

Orpha went home form the Vicksburg hospital in afternoon. Our Sadie cow may get her calf.
Monday, February 21, 1944
Went to get rent and then went to Orpha, she looks good and baby is so nice. Mrs. Gay is staying with Orpah. The baby weighted 8#4oz. and they named it Claudia Anita. (got to get over that)

It is awful foggy today, and it rained last night, not so cold but quite lot of snow on ground.

We cut up our meat and made sausage. Merle's was her a few minutes said he was deferred for a while.

I was sick and tired all day, guess I worked too hard yesterday.
Friday, February 25, 1944
I did my wash and went to Orphas in afternoon, the baby is nice. Orpha is in bed yet, but looks pretty good. Mothers birthday.

The lame sow had 11 pigs today, lost 2. It sure nice day.
Sunday, February 27, 1944
Stayed home all day, Dad is figuring out his Income Tax papers, nice day but little colder.
Monday, February 28, 1944
Went to Otsego, but did not take butter as it was spoiled from meat, we had in refrigerator. Saw Letha but Merle had just started working for Mr. Johnson in the meat house.

Today is leap year.
